U16 Girls Midleton 4 Bandon 3
This was always going to be a difficult game as we started with just 10 players. But from the start the girls took the game to Bandon and could have taken the lead when Rachel had a good chance. Chi Chi then hit the post after a great run and had another good chance before the break.
Second half and the game really kicked off. Rachel had us ahead after just minutes but Bandon came back. Then Lily got on the end of a cross from Chic Chi after a free kick from Ashling. Bandon again struck back with 2 quick goals to make it 2-3. This wasn’t enough to upset our girls as Rachel got the equaliser after a lovely move involving Holly and Roisin. Then a quick break saw Chi Chi taken down in the box for a penalty which Lily expertly dispatched. In the end it was a super performance from Lana, Deara, Lucy, Emma & Roisin in defence and Ashling, Lily, Holly and Chi Chi in midfield , with Rachel completing a very strong performance by the team. A big thanks to Roisin, Lucy and Deara who took on the goalkeeping duties.
Team: Ashling Harty , Lucy Horgan, Emma Fitzpatrick, Deara Ositadinma, Chi Chi Ositadinma, Holly Kennedy, Roisin O Brien, Rachel O Sullivan, Lana Henry, Lily Hayes Nally(Capt).

DONIE FORD CUP Q-F
Cobh Wanderers 1-0 Midleton AET

Good game today away versus Cobh Wanderers in what was a very fine performance by the away side, there wasn’t very many chances in the game as a whole from both sides but midleton worked the ball excellently throughout and always tried to pass the ball, midleton again dominated for large periods as Cobh struggled to deal with the away sides work rate. And it was a very comfortable for midleton back 5, with ray savage not having to make a save in the 45min.in general it was tight game up until half time with Tijani striking over the bar from 15yrds out, when maybe could have done better.HT 0-0
The 2nd half begun and again was a even affair but it was the referees decision changed the game when he dismissed a Cobh and midleton player for pushes off the ball, both managers will question the decision as two yellows was more than enough for both. The game opened up as a result and still no clear cut chances but more pressure began on both defences.
There was a huge call then on 70min when a off the ball elbow to midleton top performer Seamus Farrell’s face in front of the referee but he deemed it a yellow card to the Cobh player to the shock of everyone when only one card was appropriate and give the away side a big advantage. Frustrating is a understatement, Both sides carried on once again and tried hard to create opening but a bumpy pitch and windy overhead conditions made it even harder and with tired legs in extra -time the quality of the game dropped when both sides found it tough going, Cobh took 1st blood in extra time from a corner a suspected hand ball but goal was awarded , midleton tried to rally but couldn’t muster anything.

A unlucky defeat considering , and midleton will take the positives from this display into a very important league game away to Mayfield next Saturday .

Hard luck to Midleton College Girls team.

Midleton College girls put up a great performance in the all Ireland to lose out by the odd goal to Mulroy College Milford the SFAI senior girls all Ireland final.
